RedactPro is built around one rule: your data stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing about your browsing. RedactPro does not read, transmit, log or store the content of pages you visit, the text you redact, the images on those pages, or anything else from your tab.

What we store locally on your device

• Your preferred redaction mode (blur, pixelate, solid, or color)
• Your preferred overlay color
• Your Pro license status (yes/no)
• Per-page redaction counts (kept only until you close the tab)

This data is stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API and never leaves your computer.

What is sent to third parties

Only if you upgrade to Pro:

• Your email address and payment information are processed by Stripe when you purchase a license. We never see or store your payment details.
• Your license status is checked against our license server (a Cloudflare Worker we operate) once when you activate a key, and re-validated every 24 hours after that. The check sends only the license key, the email associated with it, and a random device ID we generate locally.
• Your email is sent to Resend (our transactional email provider) so we can deliver your license key.

For the free version, no data is ever transmitted.

What we do not do

• We do not use analytics or tracking pixels inside the extension.
• We do not sell, share, or rent any data — we don't have any to sell.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not read your browsing history.
• We do not access tabs other than the one you're actively redacting.

Permissions explained

• activeTab: lets us inject redactions into the page you're viewing when you click the extension icon. Access ends when you close the tab.
• storage: stores your preferences locally on your device.
• scripting: injects the redaction tool into the active tab.
• downloads: saves redacted screenshots to your Downloads folder (Pro feature only).
• alarms: schedules a license re-validation every 24 hours.
• host_permissions for licenses.redactpro.io: allows the extension to verify your Pro license against our server.

Children's privacy

RedactPro is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Cookies

The redactpro.io website uses no tracking cookies. We use a single, optional analytics tool (Plausible) which is cookieless and stores no personal data. You can browse the site, install the extension, and purchase a license without any cookies being set on your device.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what we collect or how we handle data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated in the extension itself before they take effect.
